Copper’s Corner: Copper Acts Possessed

It’s 10:10 a.m. on Saturday morning. I’ve been up all night working and then chilling out. I went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and I took a lot of photos of European paintings, as well as the captions, and I turned it into a story for genxchronicle.com.

I finished the story around 4 a.m., and I’ve been chilling out since then, just trying to relax and unwind. I’m living on weird hours, on a weird schedule, but that’s the writer’s life. You write when inspiration strikes you, not a minute before, and not a minute after. You just let it rip when the spirit moves you.

So around 5:30 a.m. I wrote an essay about Seal’s song Kiss From A Rose, and how it moved me, and how it brought me out of the slight sadness I was feeling. It’s a really dope song, I love It.

I’ve been chilling listening to music since then, and also watching videos, mostly hip hop videos and Taylor Swift videos.

So around 10 a.m., Copper makes her way into the living room, stands in front of the TV, puts her hands on her haunches, and gives me a look like, hey dude, what are you up to? It’s morning now, what are we going to do today? That’s what it looks like she’s saying.

But then she goes crazy, and just tears across the living room and into the bedroom, just races across the rooms, like it’s D-Day and she’s storming the beach at Normandy. She just lets it rip. She’s making a lot of noise and stirring up a lot of dirt metaphorically.

When she slows down and stops for a second, I say hey Copper, how you doing beautiful, hey Copper how are you?

She looks at me with possessed eyes, like she’s on a mission, and then she tears across the living room into the bedroom again, scampering around making a ton of noise as she bangs into the couch on the way and slides into the living room and then into the bedroom at top speed.

I have no idea why she’s decided to take it upon herself to re-enact the Daytona 500, but she’s really letting the racetrack rip, and she’s just racing around the apartment like crazy. She’s flying around, and it’s awesome to watch, but I wonder to myself, what in the world has possessed her?

I mean has the spirit gotten into her, or something like that? Have the gods of Isis and Osiris and the Egyptian medieval period gotten into her? Because the Egyptians worshiped cats, they really did.

So it’s cool to watch, I love watching the racing around, but I just want to chill out a little and relax too. Then again, if this is what makes her happy, so be it. I may be a little tired from being up all night, but she has every right in the world to race around the apartment and be free and do whatever she wants to do. So I say let’s both live a little Copper, you do your thing, and I’ll do mine. We’ll see what happens next.
